Every year, there are more and more Indians moving abroad for work and school. There are many other people who are not citizens of India who wish to open a Indian bank account to do business in India and for other needs.

You may also, sometimes find it hard to send money back to India for your family. There are so many rules and restrictions. If you are looking for an easy solution, opening an NRE or NRO bank account in India might be it. These are special bank accounts for those staying abroad. The best part about it is that most banks now have a way to open one of these accounts online where you will not have to go to India.

IMPORTANT:

When you are choosing a bank, be sure to check into the online account opening for your most convenient method available. When you are opening an account, you will need to provide the following:

                        Passport details/copies

                        Your address proof document

                        Current Email Address

Your PAN card details (can be obtained at the link provided above)

If you have all of the above documents, then the process should be pretty smooth and hassle-free.
The following banks offer the online registration for NRIs (non resident Indians and non Indian nationals) living abroad:

                        Barclays

                        Citibank

                        HSBC

                        IDBI

                        State Bank of India

                        ICICI

Some of the banks listed will have a form that you fill out and submit online and some of them will require you to print out the application, provide the documents, and post physically to their branch. Either one of these methods is very convenient for NRIs as you do not have to travel all the way to India in order to open an account.

I am sure that once you have completed this and opening an NRI account, you will find it easier to pay your bills in India, send money to family, or get paid in India.
